About the workshop:
Get your creative side out and learn something new, join a Clay workshop with your friends.
Slip casting is a technique for the mass production of pottery. A liquid clay body slip is poured into plaster molds and allowed to form a layer inside the mold. I use this technique to create most of my work.
We will start with an introduction to slip casting, I will explain and demonstrate this industrial and creative process, how to cast and decorate.
You will cast 3 pieces using existing plaster molds (vase, cup, plate) you will also decorate them with colors.
When the project is finished you will leave it in my studio so they can get dry,
your pieces will be dipped in clear glaze, fired in my kiln, and will be ready for pick up after 2 weeks.
This is a 2.5 hours workshop that covers the basics of slip casting an object.

COVID-19
Here at Kesemy design health and safety is our top priority. We are following the recommendations of the local and international health authorities about COVID-19.
Please read our COVID-19 safety procedures for the workshops:
-The groups are smaller, 5 – 6 people. we practice 1.5 physical distancing, this applies to all participants, including those who have been vaccinated.
-If you experience any COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms (cold, sneezing, fever, headache) or if you have been in close contact with anyone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 or has COVID-19 symptoms, you must cancel your registration for the workshop and stay home, If you need to cancel, you will receive a full refund.
– If you have traveled outside of the country to a yellow/orange/red country, please refrain from coming into the studio.
-Hygiene procedures: keep hands clean, avoid coughing or sneezing on others, and limit contact with shared surfaces and objects.
Cough and sneeze into a bent elbow or disposable tissue (and throw away any used tissue in designated receptacles) and wash your hands after coughing or sneezing.
I am keeping the studio clean, disinfecting what I can but a clay studio is an impossible place to completely sanitize, there are many shared tools and materials in the studio, it is not possible to sterilize them all.
– Hand sanitizer is provided for everyone who comes into the studio.
– Please wash your hands when you come into the studio and clean your work area thoroughly when you leave.
– There is a permanent place for everyone in the studio.
– There will be walking routes to avoid mistakes.
– Please bring your bottle of water.
Thank you for your patience, let’s create a safe working space together.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation in the Netherlands, it is necessary to provide proof of a negative test result or a vaccination certificate, or proof that you have recovered from the corona in order to participate in the workshops.
We decided this is necessary because, during the workshops, people are sitting in one space for 2.5 hours.
Here at Kesemy design, we take the safety and well-being of our participants very seriously,
we want to remind everyone that you must take responsibility for your safety and respect the safety of others in the studio.
